Mixed Media Ornament for Cherish the Memory

Wood plaque ornament for Christmas!

An alternative or addition to Christmas cards

 More than a Christmas Card

As much fun as card making can be, when you're thinking about friends and family during holiday time, cards are the obvious choice. But, what if you wanted to make something relatively quick and easy and still get that WOW factor? Something that is simply more than just a card that friends and relatives might just want to hold onto longer.

 Class Christmas Kit

To make the ornament, I used the Classic Christmas paper kit sold by Cherish the Memory along with a simple wood slice, which I found at my local craft store for a couple of dollars.

Supplies Needed:

Paper Kit
Wood slice
Drill (to make the hole)
Ribbon
Glue/Foam Tape
Embellishments

Embellishments

Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops in Red Berry
Glossy Accents by Ranger
Paper Flowers by Recollections
Snowflake Paste by Prima Marketing

I am crazy about layers! Lots and lots of layers with the use of foam mounting tape.

A great home decor item for everyone!

A little bit about the construction

  • Mark a hole big enough for the width of your desired ribbon and drill.
  • Detail the first layer of snowflake paste so that the ornament gets the "just snowed on" look!
  • There are several tutorials out there that show you how to make your own if you happen to not have the one by Prima Marketing, which is my favorite thing to use anytime I make a winter piece.
  • After drying, I took a wreath from the "Classic Christmas" Card kit which you can purchase here.
  • Add embellishment drops and left to dry. I recommend tucking in heavier duty embellishments like paper flowers so as not to overpower the more delicate pieces.
  • Slip the ribbon through to tie a bow with extra ribbon left for hanging, then, you're all done!

Making it personal

This ornament is all about how many paper ornaments you want to use! You can make it as detailed or as simple as preferred. I am absolutely in love with how "complicated" this detailed ornament looks! Many more hours were spent on the Christmas cards I made and it makes me wish I had made more of these instead! So, if you are feeling a little adventurous and want to try something new, or just want to do something different for a change that can be made last minute, make sure to give this a try! I think I will be making these next year in addition to Christmas cards, because I like to overwhelm myself, haha!

I am a sucker for the beautifully foiled images in the card kit.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog! I hope you've enjoyed this fun, yet simple and easy alternative to a Christmas card.

Pink Christmas and Holiday Cards

Holiday and Christmas Card Trio for Cherish the Memory

The holidays are fast approaching and it feels like I have been working on Christmas cards for what seems like forever now! I'm sure it will all be worthwhile when I get to see the smiles on the faces of my relatives when they get the cards hand delivered to them. Thankfully these Studio Light paper kits available from Cherish the Memory have made making plenty of cards fun and almost too easy!

Below are the cards I have assembled with the "Christmas Romance" Card Kit that I will link to at the end of this post.

The paper kits include pre-designed layouts of the way you can compose the cards using their perforated pre-cut die cuts, but I hardly ever do as the kit is just so generous with the paper die cuts that I almost always create a composition of my own which is one of my favorite things about these paper kits. You can whip up a card in 5 minutes using their suggestion or spend up to an hour or so playing with all the pretty foiled detailed die cuts and make it all your own.

I was a bit ambitious with this card, but it was the most fun out of the three. It's a shaker card as you can tell, but I decided to use two windows, just like I did with my previous shaker tag.

This card was the simplest but the most beautiful to me. There really is beauty in simplicity! I always tend to add a lot of detail and embellishments, but striving for simplicity still remains to be a challenge for me, and this card was really a prize for me because it turned out to be my favorite!

I used Nuvo Crystal drops and Ranger Liquid Pearls for my cards.

Thank you so much for checking out my cards!

"Royal Christmas" Cards for Cherish the Memory

Three Easy Christmas Cards

Hello, all!
I will be showcasing three cards made from Studio Light's "Royal Christmas" Foil card kit
available from Cherish the Memory

"The Season filled with joy & love"

I used gold DMC embroidery floss for this card and some white glitter petals from a Prima Marketing flower I had in my stash to add some dimension, but the card kit came with plenty of ephemera to accent the card that nothing more was necessary!

Card #2

"It's the most wonderful time of the year"

To accent this gift box themed card, I used jute cord to match the graphic, plenty of foam tape as I do with most of my cards to bring out the embellishments, and much like the card above, the card kit provides more than enough beautiful gold foiled elements to add to your cards.

Card #3

"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year"

My favorite characteristic of these card kits, is that each card comes with separate sayings to accommodate different occasions such as using the holiday expressions, and those that specify Christmas so that there is a card for everyone! This card was my most recent card, and the quickest, but also my personal favorite of the three. I can't wait to make the rest of the cards from the kit!

This kit makes card making a simple, stress free breeze! These 3 cards were the fastest cards I have ever made and I am very pleased with how pretty they turned out to be! With the holidays approaching and an upcoming trip to see family, these were perfect to make for friends and family! So, if you are in a time crunch, I highly recommend this kit! I have listed the link to this kit below :
